Who we are
The Chetco Medical Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening access to high-quality healthcare in rural Southern Oregon and Northern California.
The Foundation supports workforce development, clinical education, healthcare infrastructure, and operational sustainability within established medical care settings. While the Foundation is a newly formalized nonprofit entity, the healthcare services it supports have been continuously delivered in the region since 1987, serving rural communities with uninterrupted access to care.
The Foundation was created to help long-standing rural healthcare systems respond to modern challenges—including workforce shortages, infrastructure demands, and increasing regulatory complexity—while preserving continuity of care for the communities they serve.
Our Mission
To strengthen rural healthcare delivery by investing in the people, systems, and infrastructure that ensure long-term access to care for medically underserved communities.
Implementation Readiness
All programs supported by the Foundation are delivered through existing clinical facilities, experienced healthcare teams, and established administrative and compliance systems. This structure allows funded activities to be implemented immediately upon award, without startup delays or operational uncertainty.
Grant-supported initiatives are integrated into ongoing operations to support long-term sustainability beyond individual funding cycles.
Organizational Continuity
Healthcare services supported by the Foundation have operated continuously for nearly four decades, adapting to the evolving needs of rural communities while maintaining uninterrupted patient access.
This continuity significantly reduces implementation risk for funders and ensures that investments are made within systems that have proven operational capacity, experienced leadership, and established community trust.
Governance & Stewardship
The Foundation operates under the oversight of a Board of Directors with healthcare, financial, and community expertise. The organization maintains:
Board-approved budgets and spending categories
Segregated grant accounting
Conflict-of-interest and procurement policies
Grant-specific reporting and compliance protocols
These controls ensure transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of public and private funds.
Why This Matters
Rural healthcare systems face unique challenges related to geography, workforce availability, and infrastructure limitations. By strengthening existing services rather than creating new or duplicative programs, the Chetco Medical Foundation enables high-impact, low-risk investments that improve access, stability, and sustainability in underserved communities.
Our Vision
A resilient rural healthcare ecosystem supported by stable workforce pipelines, modern clinical infrastructure, and integrated education programs—ensuring continuity of care for generations to come.
How We Work
The Chetco Medical Foundation functions as a supporting organization for existing healthcare delivery systems. Rather than operating stand-alone or experimental programs, the Foundation directs philanthropic and grant funding into services that are already active, trusted, and embedded within the community.
This approach allows resources to be deployed immediately, responsibly, and sustainably—strengthening care delivery without duplicating services or creating parallel systems.
